It has come full circle for Coco Martin, who started his career in show business under ABS-CBN Star Magic’s Star Circle Batch 9 and now reigns supreme as the network and the country’s King of Primetime TV.
Before his succesful return to his mother network, Coco was able to helm a reputable status as the Prince of Philippine Independent Films. His notable performances in Masahista, Daybreak and Jay earned him multiple acting recognitions from major award-giving bodies. He was also critically-acclaimed for his roles in Kinatay, Sa ‘Yo Lamang and Noy.
In television, Coco’s most sucessful series to date had been Juan dela Cruz and the current top rater FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. He started his succesful soap opera stints in ABS-CBN as a regular cast in Ligaw Na Bulaklak, which was immediately followed by Tayong Dalawa; Nagsimula sa Puso; Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo; Tonyong Bayawak; 1DOL; Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin; and Walang Hanggan, where he was first paired with Julia Montes. Their unique chemistry and effective tandem was subsequently seen in the TV series Ikaw Lamang and the movies A Moment In Time and Padre de Familia.
Coco has also shared screen time with other leading ladies such as Angeline Quinto in Born To Love You, Sarah Geronimo in Maybe This Time, and Toni Gonzaga in You’re The Boss. He has also received blockbuster sucess for the films Feng Shui 2, and Beauty and the Bestie.
Since 2006, Coco has accumulated more than 70 citations and over 30 nominations from different award-giving bodies. This includes Actor of the Decade from Gawad Urian.
