Pokwang credits her entry into show business to fellow comedian Eric Nicolas who discovered her, gave her an opportunity to do stand-up acts in comedy bars, and ultimately encouraged her to join the reality comedy contest Clown in A Million, where she won as Grand Champion and officially became an ABS-CBN Kapamilya.
Her unique brand of humor earned Pokwang a spot as one of the hosts in the noontime programs Wowowee, Pilipinas Win Na Win and Happy Yipee Yehey. It also paved the way for her own sitcom entitled Aalog-alog, for which she won Best Comedy Actress at the Star Awards for Television. She was also part of the original cast of the gag show Banana Split, which has now been renamed Banana Sundae. She also top-billed the laugh-out-loud big screen flicks D’ Lucky Ones, Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat, I Do and Super Inday and the Golden Bibe.
But while her talent in comedy is unquestionable, Pokwang has recently been tapped to play more serious roles in both television and movies. She was given lead roles in the drama series Aryana, Mirabella, Nathaniel, and We Will Survive. She also delivered highly-praised dramatic performances in the TFC-produced international releases A Mother’s Story and Edsa Woolworth.
Pokwang has also released her own music album entitled Pokwang…Ang Album Na May Puso. She is currently seen in the primetime series Till I Met You.
