Tonton Gutierres started his career in show business as Sharon Cuneta’s leading man in the movies Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas, Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig and Kahit Wala Ka Na. He later received a Gawad Urian Best Actor award for his performance in the film Abot Kamay Ang Pangarap and appeared in the Ang Tanging Ina series, Magnifico and Camp Sawi.
In television, Tonton has been most lauded for playing the role of Eduardo Buenavista in the original version of the hit teleserye Pangako Sa ‘Yo. He has also delivered valuable performances in the fantasy series Komiks Presents: The Adventures of Pedro Penduko and the drama series Bituing Walang Ningning, Sana Maulit Muli, Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin, Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon, You’re My Home, and And I Love You So.
Tonton is the son of 60s matinee idol Eddie Gutierrez with the veteran dramatic actress Liza Lorena. This makes him the brother of actors Ramon Christopher, Ruffa, Richard, Raymond, and Ritchie Paul Gutierrez. His wife Glydel Mercado is also one of the industry’s top character actresses.
