Paulo Avelino has recognized acting as his real calling since he was a young boy in Baguio City. After entering show business through a talent show and working on a few projects in another network, Paulo moved to ABS-CBN in 2011 to reinvent himself as a serious dramatic actor.
His biggest break came through the hit series Walang Hanggan, where he acted as the main antagonist in a love story revolving around Coco Martin and Julia Montes. This was followed by a string of main roles in other major primetime soaps such as Honesto, Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon, Kahit Konting Pagtingin, Bridges of Love and On The Wings of Love.
Paulo has also enjoyed notable success in the big screen. His role as a bisexual in the 2011 Cinemalaya entry Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa earned him his first acting award as Best Actor at the Gawad Urian. He has since appeared in two more Cinemalaya entries, Debosyon and Bicolano. He has also top-billed the horror flicks Aswang, Shake Rattle & Roll 14 and Pagpag as a well as the romantic comedies The Bride and The Lover and Status: It’s Complicated.
The movie and television actor has also ventured into music recording by releasing his self-titled album, Paulo Avelino, under Universal Records in 2012. The album featured covers of hit songs such as Restless Heart’s When She Cries and Alamid’s Your Love.
