Gel Santos-Relos, resident “Balitang America” anchor, is a true-blue Kapamilya through and through. A journalist at heart, she graduated cum laude with a degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of the Philippines, giving back to her alma mater later on by working as an Instructor in the same field she graduated from.
Gel Santos-Relos jumpstarted her decades-long career as a broadcast journalist at the Kapamilya network, first as a radio news anchor for DZMM, then later appeared in topnotch Kapamilya news programs such as "Hoy! Gising" (where she worked as anchorwoman) and "Tatak Pinoy" (where she worked both as host and executive producer). she later on worked on other stellar news programs both on radio and television, such as "Companero y Companera" (where she worked alongside the late Atty. Rene Cayetano), "Pulso," "Aksyon Balita," "Headlines," "TV Patrol," "Relos Reports," and "Dear Ate Gel."
Gel hasn't lost her love for broadcasting and for the Kapamilya network even when she relocated to America back in 2001. The celebrated "Balitang America" anchor remained in close ties with ABS-CBN abroad, as she headlined The Filipino Channel's (TFC) premier news program. Through "Balitang America," our Kapamilyas in the United States get their daily dose of news from home, keeping them up to date with the latest stories here in the Philippines. Aside from “Balitang America,” Gel Santos-Relos also co-hosted another TFC offering, “Citizen Pinoy,” which zeroed in on immigration concerns that are relevant to Kapamilyas abroad.
