Gerald Anderson first endeared himself to the Filipino audience as a housemate in the first season of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition, where he emerged as the Teen Third Big Placer. His stay in the Big Brother House also gave birth to what would be a very succesful team up with his fellow housemate Kim Chiu.
The pair made a mark in Primetime TV with their succesful series Sana Maulit Muli, My Girl, Tayong Dalawa and Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo. They also collaborated on a string of blockbuster hits including First Day High, I’ve Fallen For You, Paano Na Kaya and Till My Hearthaches End. They were cited as the Most Popular Loveteam for three consecutive years by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Box Office Awards, where Gerald has also been cited twice as Prince of Philippine Movies and Television.
Upon the real life couple’s rumored separation in 2011, Gerald ventured on his own solo career starting with the primetime soap Budoy, where he played a good-natured mentally-challenged character who had to deal with various family and social strifes. He also top-billed the soap Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin and the fantasy drama Nathaniel. His succesful record in primetime TV soon branded Gerald as the Action Drama Prince of Philippine Television.
Gerald’s team up with Sarah Geronimo in the movies Catch Me… I’m In Love and Won’t Last A Day Without You also proved highly succesful. And in 2012, he was able to briefly reunite with Kim for the star-studded romance anthology 24/7 In Love. Gerald then took on a more serious acting stint with On The Job, the country's entry for the Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013.
Gerald won his first Best Actor Trophy for his protrayal of a character suffering from Tourette Syndrome in Maalaala Mo Kaya. He has since won ten Best Actor awards, one Supporting Actor award and 21 acting nominations from different award-giving bodies. He is still currently seen as a regular host and performer in ASAP and is expected to launch a new soap with Jake Cuenca and Yen Santos within 2016.
