Aiko Melendez entered show business as a member of the Regal Babies in the 80s. Among her early big screen appearances were in the films Where Love Has Gone and Don’t Cry For Me Papa. She later took on the lead role in the film My Pretty, which was followed by several other coming-of age films including Trese and Underage Too.
She was paired with Eric Quizon in the romantic drama Unang Tibok ng Puso and the comedy Buddy en Sol (Sine Ito) and had a succesful team up with former boyfriend Aga Muhlach in the Star Cinema movie May Minamahal. She also delivered notable performances in the war drama Isang Araw Walang Diyos; the horror flicks Shake, Rattle and Roll IV and Multo in The City ; the big screen dramas Sinungaling Mong Puso, Ang Ika-Labing Isang Utos: Mahalin Mo, Asawa Mo, Maalaala Mo Kaya: The Movie, Sa ‘Yo Lamang, Mula Noon Hanggang Ngayon, Filipinas and Someone Like You as well as in the recent hits Etiquette for Mistresses, Everyday I Love You and Barcelona: A Love Untold.
Aiko first joined television as one of the hosts of Eat Bulaga in ABS-CBN and was part of the daily noontime show ‘Sang Linggong nApo Sila and the gag show Yes Yes Show! She has most recently appeared in the televisions dramas Reputasyon, Apoy Sa Dagat, Pablo S. Gomez’ Inday Bote and The Story of Us.
Aiko is the daughter of actor Jimmy Melendez and was formerly married to Jomari Yllana.
