With her commercial and critical success in the field of comedy, Ai-Ai delas Alas has proven time and again that she has every right to be tagged as the Philippine Queen of Comedy. From her early start as a stand-up comic in comedy bars, Ai-Ai gradually made a name in mainstream entertainment with her stand-out performances in various films and television shows.
Her hit movie Ang Tanging Ina earned two sequels and a television spin-off while her superhero film Volta was also made into a TV series. She also did several collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry, leading to the commercial success of films such as Enteng Ng Ina Mo with Vic Sotto, Sisterakas with Vice Ganda and Kris Aquino and Kung Fu Divas with Marianne Rivera.
She has also showcased dramatic prowess in the television series My Juan and Only, Bituing Walang Ningning, and Super Inggo; stellar hosting skills in MTB: Ang Saya Saya!, Morning Stars, Entertainment Konek and Ruffa and I, as well as a discriminating eye for talent as one of the original judges in Pilipinas Got Talent.
So far, Ai-Ai has earned seven Star Awards Best Comedy Actress citations, four Best Actress awards, and six Box-Office recognitions from the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
