Piolo Pascual first entered show business as a teen star in the now legendary youth-oriented variety show That’s Entertainment, but the need to finish his studies and move to the United States put a halt to his dreams as an entertainer. After turning 21, Piolo moved back to Manila and got a second wind in show business. That fateful comeback launched him as the hottest leading man of his generation.
His love team with Judy Ann Santos in early 2000 was a phenomanal success, resulting to the widely-followed soaps Esperanza, Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka and Sa Piling Mo as well as the blockbuster hits Kahit Isang Saglit, Bakit Di Totohanin, Till There Was You, and Don’t Give Up On Us. He has also been paired with Claudine Barretto, Angelica Panganiban, Angel Locsin, KC Concepcion, Bea Alonzo, Regine Velasquez, Toni Gonzaga, Sarah Geronimo, and Dawn Zulueta.
But beyond his popularity as a leading man, Piolo has also made a mark on his own as a serious actor. His role as Jules in the film adaptation of the Filipino novel Dekada ’70 earned him a grandslam win in the Best Supporting Actor category in 2002. He also top-billed the critically-acclaimed film On The Job, which had a world premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival; the historical fantasy drama Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis, which won the Alfred Bauer Prize at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival; and Manila, which was screened at the Cannes, Moscow and Warsaw international film festivals.
Piolo has also played beautiful music as a recording artist. His albums Piolo and My Gift were both Platinum hits while Timeless even reached Triple Platinum success. He is regularly seen as a host and performer in ASAP.
