A change has taken over the UP Fighting Maroons. It isn't just the team composition, the new coach, or the new look. The change is set deep into the DNA of the team. After mustering a single win after three years of loss after loss, something fundamental has changed about them, an appetite for victory. A realization is dawning on the Maroons
they can win.
The Maroon's new head Coach, Rensy Bajar, has his work cut out for him
reforging a team's mindset that has long been trained to accept defeat. But the work seem to be paying off as the Maroons enjoy a highly successful off-season, becoming champions of the FilSports Basketball Association as well as out-performing Taiwanese and French universities in an off-season pocket tournament. Coach Bajar is confident that he can get the team to bring that off-season fight into the UAAP. The key for him is to remain consistent with the momentum they've been building all year long.
With a competitive mix of rookie players and returning veterans - from the raw but dominating French-African Cheick Kone to established players like Jett Manuel, Paul Desiderio and Diego Dario - we can look forward to a new and revatalized UP Maroons, one with a lot more fight, and not just in name.
