The Blue Eagles are coming in this season more determined than ever to take the championship home. After end of their five-peat streak in UAAP 76 and their loss against the NU Bulldogs last seasons in spite of their twice-to-beat advantage, there is real pressure on the Blue Eagles get back to the dominant position they once held in the league.
But UAAP 78 looks like it will prove to be a difficult climb back to the top. While no once would have guessed that the Blue Eagles were serious contenders for the championship last 2014 considering how many rookies composed their ranks, this year saw the entry of even more fresh talents. Talent that needs to matue and adjust to the rhythm and intensity that have brough home championships in the past. And while their new recruits are defnitely some of the most talented and promising in this batch, but that promise can't wait for another season to pay off if the Eagles aim to make a triumphant comeback this season.
However, as their ranks are flush with new recruits, Coach Bo Perasol can still rely on some returning vetrans this season, such as Keifer Ravena and Von Pussmal, to drive the momentum of the team, even in the face of critial loss of key players in past seasons, such as Chris Newsome and Nico Elorde.
While this season is host to many changes across the board, there is something that remains constant for the Blue Eagles
their championship-or-bust attitude has brought in victory after victory in seasons past.
