Filipino-Canadian Darren Espanto left Calgary in 2014 to try his luck in The first season of The Voice Kids Philippines. His performances during the live rounds earned him praises and standing ovations from both the audience and the coaches. In the end, he came out second to that year’s Grand Champion, Lyca Gairanod. It didn’t take long for Darren to release his first full-length self-titled album, Darren, which debuted top of the Philippine charts in the Apple iTune Store and at the Astro Chart. It has since become certified Platinum. Darren has also released his second album entitled Be With Me, with the carrier single 7 Minutes. He soon became the youngest performer to ever stage a show at the Mall of Asia Arena, where he held his birthday concert. In his short career as a performer, Darren has already garnered multiple recognitions from major award-giving bodies including PEP, Awit Awards, the PMPC Star Awards for Music, and the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholaship Foundation.
